Karakoram Xtreme Marathon (KXM) being held on September 4, 2026

Karakoram Xtreme Triathlon (KXT)
KXT (full distance/solo/relay) race begins with a 1.5 Km swim in Attabad lake, Hunza valley. It transitions to a bike loop of 180 kms close to Deh, Khunjerab National Park, from where it finally leads to Ganish. The last leg of the race, 39 kms run, will lead you to Hopar glacier.
KXT (half distance/solo/relay) race begins with a 750m swim in Attabad lake, Hunza valley. It transitions to a bike loop of 90 kms enroute towards Deh, Khunjerab National Park, from where it finally leads to Ganish. The last leg of the race, 19 kms run, will lead you to Hopar glacier.
KXT Duathlon (full distance/solo/relay) race begins with a 8 kms run on Karkoram Highway then it transitions to a bike loop of 180 kms close to Deh, Khunjerab National Park, from where it finally leads to Ganish. The last leg of the race, 39 kms run, will lead you to Hopar glacier.
KXT Duathlon (half distance/solo/relay) race begins 4 kms run on Karakoram Highway then it transitions to a bike loop of 90 kms enroute towards Deh, Khunjerab National Park, from where it finally leads to Ganish. The last leg of the race, 19 kms run, will lead you to Hopar glacier.
In 2026, we will be formally launching KXM (Karakoram Xtreme Marathon) full and half distances.

Events Highlights
For KXT Full (including Duathlon):
Swim: 1.5 km swim in Attabad lake
(Duathlon: 8 kms run loop from and back to Attabad Lake)
Bike: 180 kms bike loop from Attabad lake towards Ganish bridge
Run: 39 kms run from Ganish bridge to Eagles Nest, return to Ganish Bridge then towards Hooper Glacier look out point at Nagar
For KXT Half (including Duathlon):
Swim: 750 m swim in Attabad lake

Bike: 90 kms bike loop from Attabad lake towards Ganish bridge

In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Race Director’s decision for both KXT and KXM will be final and must be respected by all athletes, support staff, and athlete supporters.
Mandatory Equipment for KXT/KXM
Swimming:
• Neoprene wetsuit with a minimum thickness of 3 mm (5 mm preferred)
• Neoprene swim cap, gloves, and socks
• Wetsuit is mandatory
Biking:
• Bike must be equipped with front and rear lights
• For detailed bike rules, please refer to the Race Book 2026,
which will be published prior to the event
• Helmet is mandatory
Running:
• Dress appropriately for the weather and ensure you have
necessary nutrition and access to additional apparel as needed
• KXT is a self-supported event; you must rely on your planned
support for nutrition and follow the rules outlined in the Race Book.

The quote will also include the race event fees:
• US$500 – KXT full distance (solo/relay)
• US$250 – KXT half distance (solo/relay)
• US$50 – KXM full distance
• US$25 – KXM half distance
